This event brings together lawmakers and experts to examine how the EU’s new rulebook—from the AI Act to the DSA—can curb these risks, and what practical steps are needed next: stronger transparency, effective enforcement, and real AI literacy for voters. Building on case studies from the EU and the US, the discussion looks beyond diagnosis to resilience: how institutions, platforms and civil society can work together to detect, deter and de-amplify manipulation before it distorts debate. With contributions from MEPs across groups and voices from the Commission and media, the event aims to focus on concrete safeguards that protect pluralism without chilling speech—so democratic politics remains human-centred in the age of generative AI.
